JP Stanek a native of Montana spent his childhood pursuing all things outdoor recreation. From the day he started riding motorbikes, he was hooked, and that little trail bike sparked a lifelong passion for all things motocross.
JP quickly gained an affinity for speed which naturally led him to the track. Five years of amateur motocross racing honed his skills and further entrenched riding dirt bikes into his psyche.
With the throttle pinned JP charged ahead in life. His love of moto and the outdoors eventually landed him at the University of Montana to pursue a degree in Wild-land Recreation Management.
During his time in Missoula, JP struck a balance of studies and exploring the outdoors. The mountains around Missoula were the perfect playground for mountain biking, which scratched the itch until he could get back on his dirt bike.
After graduating JP started work at Great Divide Ski area in Helena, Montana. He quickly rose through the ranks and became the Mountain Manager. JP was responsible for 1600 acres, 5 chairlifts a fleet of snowcats, vehicles, snowmobiles and an extensive snowmaking system throughout the mountain. Operating mechanical equipment in extreme cold and difficult terrain provided JP on the job education in engineering. When something on the mountain broke, JP was the man to fix it.
Early in his career at GD JP met the love of his life, Courtney, at a Ski Patrol training. JP and Courtney together built their dream home overlooking the ski area. They had intended for this to be their forever home, until the spring of 2021, when they learned that JP’s favorite snow-bike company was going up for sale.
They decided to sell their dream home and purchase MotoTrax. They closed the deal on the company, a new home (in the height of the real estate chaos) and a shop to become the new home of MotoTrax.
